French Acrobatic Ensemble Akoreacro to Perform at LeDní Letná Festival

„This is the first time when we are bringing a foreign ensemble to Prague within LeDní Letná,” says the director of the festival Jiří Turek. ”The performance Klaxon takes place in an atmosphere in which common things turn into magical ones and where it’s no wonder that a piano goes mad, an animal tamer gives freedom to animals and sounds are brimming with striking energy. The performance combines circus art that has been tested by time with contemporary approaches and challenges. Precise acrobatics is mixed with unconventional invention and fantasy blends with reality. It’s about alchemy of music and acrobatics. Accompanied by original music full of pointed contrasts we all set out for an improbable journey in which fantasy and reality of the artist’s life are the same thing,” adds Turek. In her review of the performance, Anne-Christine Tinel wrote: “Acrobatics is the secret of success of Klaxon. It is so unusual and unpredictable, it naturally follows the collective scenes and moreover, in regular intervals the audience can enjoy being lulled to sleep and then to be woken up by the acrobatic virtuosity again and again, all the more surprised.”
„One scene follows another in a frenetic rhythm, from the beginning to the end there is no lag. One has to keep turning his head to enjoy all the beauty. It takes people’s breath away, they are shaking, they experience moments of altered consciousness, drunkenness of joy, they totter between smiles and loud laughter that scramble to the surface in a way typical for tears,” wrote the journal L'Echo.
The performance Walls & Handbags, which had its premiere this year at Letní Letná, was created in cooperation of the Losers Cirque Company ensemble, Jana Burkiewicz – a director and a choreographer, and a the directing duo SKUTR. The dance-acrobatic theatre show is inspired by the city world of walls and houses. “At a courtyard of a block of houses in a city there is a wall. It is a challenge, a test of courage and also an impulse for imagination. And there’s also a luggage with our childhood and our old wishes hidden inside. Once we packed it inside. A small boy and five adult men are coming back to the courtyard, each with a bag in his hand, to get back to dreaming their boyhood fantasies. There may be a whole world behind the wall. All you need to do is to climb over it or on it and have a look at the city from the bird’s eye view,” say the authors.
The Losers Cirque Company ensemble presented their dancing and acrobatic project The Loser(s) at the premier at Letní Letná 2014. They also invited the choreographer Jarek Cemerka to collaborate with them. “According to the authors the performance with several acrobats and two dancers is a current reflexion of the fact that in today’s society’s fast pace a lot of people lose their personality and the vision of their private and partner life. They want to ask where our boundaries are, who our example, our love and partner is,” conclude the organisers of LeDní Letná.

Thank you for your thoughts. One got stuck in my mind – that passion makes us different from AI. Just yesterday I read…I am a dance critic. I am a member of an endangered species
