Solo Dance Festival a Duo Dance Festival
Organised by Orkesztika Foundation in Budapest, Hungary
6-11 January 2011
Our Festival gives opportunity for individual dancers and dance groups to realise their artistic concepts and through this event they will get a feedback that they can use for developing themselves. Continuing the traditions of the previous festivals, we would like to keep at our goals that apart from some regulations the dance groups can perform their shows without restrictions. All the performances will be evaluated by a professional jury and the audience.
We want to ensure the possibility for everyone to perform regardless of the large number of perspective participants, SzoloDuo 2010 is also going to be completed with nomination-rounds. The nomination rounds will already be held in four different countries.

The festival’s grand opening on Thursday 14 April 2011 will take place at the Stadsschouwburg Utrecht with the spectacular première showSideways Rain bychoreographer Guilherme Botelho (Brazil / Switzerland):
A mesmerising group piece for fifteen top dancers who will be crawling across the stage, walking, running, falling, stopping and starting again like dynamos. Drawn by an invisible force that keeps tugging at them to go further, towards a place that always seems to slip away from them. In the different parts of the piece they will depict the evolution of man. Superb simplicity! “Life, running at full speed ahead to the abyss, celebrating a dance of the senses.” (Le Temps, France).

TANZtheater INTERNATIONAL 2011
Hanover will once again host ten days of motion and emotion when the 26thedition of TANZtheater INTERNATIONAL takes place from 1 to 10 September 2011.
This year’s festival will present another excellent opportunity for the public to gain in-depth insights into today’s dance vocabularies over a short period of time.Festival director Christiane Winter has once again found many new productions from the field of contemporary dance to present to you in September. Here is a brief preview of what’s in store in 2011:
South African choreographer and dancer Gregory Maqoma, an internationally trained artist combining influences from Africa and Europe, will make his first appearance at the festival with his solo “Beautiful Me” on 2 September inBallhof Eins. With this piece, performed together with four live musicians, he reveals his own very personal and fascinating movement spectrum.
There will be another chance to catch up with the German director duoGintersdorfer/Klaßen on 4 September in Ballhof Eins. Following their great success with “Logobi 02” at 2009’s festival, in “Betrügen” they will introduce a unique cultural phenomenon. Conceived by artists from the Ivory Coast and integrated into real life, “Coupé Decaler” is a music, dance and lifestyle movement which has been taking clubs from Paris to Abidjan by storm.
On 5 September Akram Khan and his company will give their first performance at TANZtheater INTERNATIONAL in the Schauspielhaus. “Vertical Road”, the latest work by the British-Indian choreographer, featuring eight dancers from Asia, Europe and the Middle East, considers man’s earthly existence as well as his spiritual path. It comprises a true feast for the senses with thrilling dance, intensive imagery and music composed especially for the production.
Another newcomer to the festival is young choreographer and dancer Lisbeth Gruwez from Belgium, who has previously worked with theatre-makers such as Jan Fabre and Jan Lauwers. Now also enjoying international success with her own group, Voetvolk, she will present not one but two of her productions at the 2011 festival: “Birth of Prey” on 6 September in Ballhof Zwei, an intense solo by this exceptional performer, and “HeroNeroZero” on 9 September in Ballhof Zwei with another dancer and a musician/performer.
All other dance productions from 1 to 10 September will be shown in the Orangerie Herrenhausen, a consistently popular festival venue. As a specialbonus in 2011, all festival entrance tickets also entitle the holder to free admission to the Herrenhäuser gardens from 5 p.m. on the day of the event!
