The Internet server www.tanecniaktuality.cz is celebrating its 10th birthday and on this occasion the editorship is preparing a number of accompanying events. The main innovation will be the launching of a new on-line dance subjects database, covering the city of Prague as well as the regions and shielded by the Taneční aktuality team. The database is to be presented during the Czech Dance Platform festival in April. Throughout the year, the readers may look forward to meetings with the authors (the first one taking place on 25 February in Studio Alta) and interviews with our editors.„This year we would like to rethink the present functioning of the portal and the possibilities of its development and growth to make it beneficial for the Czech dance scene in the next years. Eye-to-eye meetings and discussions with our partners and readers, artistic and professional public give us the crucial feedback and motivation to improve. I believe that Taneční actuality has a lot of hidden potential and the time has come to awaken it,” says Lucie Hayashi, co-founder and current editor-in-chief of the portal.
The session with the editors takes place on 25 February 2016, 6pm in Studio Alta. It will be an opportunity for the participants to meet the authors and come up with suggestions concerning the functioning or possible enhancements of the portal.
As the database coordinator Daniela Machová says about the project: „The medium of Internet has a unique ability to expand and so it is ideal for disposing and archiving all the important information about dance in the Czech Republic. There exists no satisfactory database of dancers, theatres, companies etc. in the Czech Republic yet. As Taneční aktuality is the only actively operating multi-genre Internet communication medium, it is also an ideal space for building such a database. After several years of working successfully in the field of media communication, we have enough experienced experts to create a top-quality collection of data”.
The database will consist of the following parts: Theatres, Artistic Ensembles, Artists, Production Units, Conservatories and Higher Education, Arts Schools, Literature and Festivals. The project’s partner is Tanec Praha/ Czech Dance Platform 2016. The official presentation of the project is to be held on occasion of the CZECH DANCE PLATFORM festival from 20 to 25 April 2016.
Taneční aktuality runs the Internet magazine on dance and art of movement. The portal is an inimitably up-to-date, professional, interactive and free medium. The daily update of news and the information service (overview of workshops, audiences etc.) fill the web with a large volume of data, as well as authorial articles covering the hottest dance events not only in Prague. Since 2008, Taneční aktuality has published its Ročenka (The Yearbook), i.e. publication digesting the most important productions in the field of dance and the art of movement of the past season. The success of Taneční aktuality is indicated not only by the growing number of the website’s visitors but also the number of fans on social networks. State and private theatres, dance schools and independent artistic subjects or dance artists are also constantly interested in collaboration with the magazine.
