Three questions for Fernando Dominguez, one of the stars of Dance Life Expo 2014

The annual dance festival and expo Dance Life Expo 2014 will take place at the exhibition grounds in Brno from the 7th to 9th of November 2014, inviting a number of interesting guests to the Czech Republic. One of them is a dancer and choreographer Fernando Dominguez Rincon. An artist who performed the repertoire of famous choreographers such as Hans Van Manen, Arno Schuitemaker, Melissa Ellberger, Adriaan Luteijn or Jiří Kylián in the Netherlands and he now runs his own company FDR Dance in Mexico. Agency Art 4 People had arranged the guesting of the company at the festival and Taneční aktuality.cz took the occasion to ask Fernando Dominguez Rincon few questions. You come to the DLE with your FDR Dance company. Could you introduce the piece you will present?
May BE is a dance piece made for three dancers in which their relationship changes constantly; this means, progressively, the woman gets away from her man to feel attracted to another one. The choreography is in modern/contemporary style performed by Priska Gloanec, Sebastian Spahn and myself.
This work premiered at Zeche Leopold in Dorsten, Germany in 2013. It is a complex belonging to one of the most important coal and mining companies across Germany which now functions as an artistic place open for exhibitions, galleries and performances, called CreativQuartier Fürst Leopld Dorsten.
Is it your first visit of Czech Republic? Do you have any experience with Czech dancers or other artists?
For myself it is the second time I visit this country, precisely I visited for a dance company audition and to take modern and ballet lessons in Prague. As a company this is the first time we visit the Czech Republic. We are very excited!  You have performed the repertoire of Czech-born choreographer Jiri Kylian. What is your experience with this artist? Who else do you consider to have the biggest influence on you as an artist?
It was an extraordinary experience to perform his work. I got to perform Bella Figura and Wings of Wax during the 50 years anniversary of NDT (Netherlands Dance Theater) and a programme made for young dancers in 2009-2010. The way J. Kylian explains the movement and the images he offers behind every step, makes it unique. Since I was very young and used to live in Mexico I was impressed by his work, when I arrived to Holland and got to learn it. I consider it a success of my career because I am a great fan of his work. I have been influenced by all of them... It is difficult to say since the work I did with them is very different; sometimes it was existing repertory in which you have to learn the steps and rhythm, sometimes a new creation in which we started from zero.
Lately I have been working for dance film making, and have been influenced by dramatist Harm Weistra with whom we premiered the last film Intrinsic Moral Evil at CINEDANS 2014,  San Francisco Dance Film Festival, Nederlands Film festival and Agite Y Sirva Festival, among many other festivals around the world.
It is very different to choreograph for stage and for film, and the influences are diverse.
