New Italian Dance Platform

III edition

Brescia - Italy

8th-11th October 2015

NID Platform originates from the common objectives of some of the dance companies members of A.D.E.P. (Associazione Danza Esercizio e Promozione within Federdanza/Agis ) made in RTO (Temporary Group of Organisms), the Ministero dei Beni e delle Attività Culturali e del Turismo - Direzione Generale per lo Spettacolo dal Vivo, which for the 2015 edition closely cooperates with the Regione Lombardia, for the realisation and implementation of a project aimed to support significantly promotion and distribution of the best productions of the Italian Dance.
Regione Lombardia was designated as the seat of the initiative also because of the exceptional event of EXPO 2015.

The third platform, after Puglia and Toscana, presents itself as a special edition because, in the context of EXPO 2015, will take place in advance of the biennial and will benefit from an international value even more important.

Montpellier Danse Festival

June 24 2014 to July 9 2015

The Montpellier Dance Festival was created in 1981 as a crossroad for different dance forms and cultures. Traditional dances, prestigious international companies, experimental dance forms… This festival celebrates dance culture at every level.

Since it was set up, the Montpellier Dance Festival has been a key event for top choreographers and dancers throughout the world. Over a thousand companies have performed at this festival in Montpellier bringing prestige and excitement with them - it has become one of the city's major cultural events. Every year, the festival programme is broken into three phases: two performance seasons (spring and autumn) and a summer festival.

This festival's success is in part due to the intelligent combination of cutting-edge choreographic research and in part due to the open-mindedness of both the artists and of audiences.

Biennale College Dance 2015

June 2015

As of 2013, la Biennale di Venezia has renewed its mission in all of its fields. In addition to its work to promote knowledge among the general public (Exhibitions and Festivals) it has introduced a strategic programme to train young artists. Known as the Biennale College, this programme is already underway in the fields of Dance, Music, Theatre and Cinema. To encourage young talents, offering them the opportunity to work side by side with the masters to develop “creations”: this is the spirit of the Biennale College, a well-appointed bridge that allows young people who wish to engage in one of the arts to do so under the best conditions that an international institution can offer.

Biennale College Dance 2015 is open to dancers over the age of 18 with consolidated experience in the techniques of contemporary dance.

The project will include an educational and training programme led by contemporary dance teachers, with the formation of groups composed of dancers led by a guest choreographer. These are courses leading to the creation of short choreographic works that will be presented to the public on the 25th, 26th, 27th and 28th June 2015, as part of the Biennale College Dance 2015 event titled “The dignity of gesture” directed by Virgilio Sieni.

All the original creations will be the result of a period of residency of choreographers and dancers in Venice.

12. - 13. June 2015

Our goal is to provide as many regional and international choreographers with a regular and cost-free platform to present their newest ideas as well as offer the Berlin audience an exciting insight into the many facets of the contemporary dance scene.

Unique to LUCKY TRIMMER is the unusual format in which contemporary dance is presented according to our knowledge of the scene. LUCKY TRIMMER presents a series of pieces, each under 10 minutes, that are engaged with physicality, movement and performance.

From dance-theater to clown, music to acrobatics, spoken words to animation movies, conceptual pieces to intricate movement research, LUCKY TRIMMER attempts to show the complexity of the contemporary dance scene and how it is interwoven with and informed by other genres of performance. We have stood between worlds - bridging the avant-guarde and the mainstream - and we are in a position to close the distance between them and largely on our own terms.

In addition we are dedicated to magnify the validity and importance of Short Dance in relation to Short Film, Short Stories, etc.

Movimentos - Festival weeks of the Autostadt in Wolfsburg

10th April - 17 May 2015

13rd edition

The Autostadt presented the first Movimentos Festival in spring 2003. Originally conceived as a contemporary dance festival, the series of performances represents a commitment to a universal art form. Dance is a fundamental expression of human movement. “When a spark of inspiration flows from the stage to the audience, we have achieved our goal”, explains Movimentos Artistic Director, Dr. Maria Schneider. The programme of events gradually evolved to include classical, jazz and pop concerts, theatre, staged readings and discussions.

What started out as a series of dance performances evolved to become one of Germany's leading cultural events in 2006 when lectures, discussions, matinees, concerts, and dramatic readings were added to the Movimentos program. Along with a diversity of dance performances, the festival lineup included some of Germany's top stage and screen stars.

The 13th Movimentos Festival programme addresses the theme of peace in its many different facets. The Movimentos Festival programme of choreographies, productions, concerts and readings offers audiences many opportunities to think more deeply, to sympathize, to create associations and to address critical issues – in short, to become familiar with the unknown.

In a series of German and European premieres, international ensembles will show how people succeed or fail in their quest for peace. This yearning is authentically expressed by Israel's Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company. Israelis have longed for peace since their country was founded – but the desire in itself is not enough. At the German premiere of their production Wasteland, theGöteborgsOperans Danskompani will show how the path to peace can be obstructed. The Cloud Gate Dance Theatre of Taiwan, whose choreographer Lin Hwai-min received the 2009 Movimentos Dance Award, will perform DUST a requiem. This plea for peace in the world is dedicated to all people who have suffered from wars, ethnic cleansing and civil strife.

Tanz nrw

16. -28. 4. 2015

For the fifth time, nine partners and twelve venues have teamed up to present this festival dedicated to dance in and from North Rhine-Westphalia in eight cities. The biennial platform tanz nrw is a coalition of dance producers from NRW interested in increasing both regional and international awareness of the NRW dance scene. We are deeply committed to the realisation of this goal.

Artists from different generations – new faces and famous names alike – will present their latest choreographic projects here. This year's tanz nrw programme puts 17 artistic positions up for discussion that signify various experiences and ways of thinking. They examine reality in its relationship to physicality, devote themselves to pressing issues or reflect upon the underlying paradigms of society and art production.

CINEDANS 2015 - Dance on Screen Festival

11 - 15 March 2015
EYE, Amsterdam

Cinedans – Dance on Screen Festival is unique – in the Netherlands and in the world. The central focus of the festival is on dance film. Cinedans sees the ideal dance film as a true synthesis between the two media of dance and cinematography. At Cinedans the emphasis lies on choreographies created specifically for the camera and on special film adaptations of existing dance performances.

The festival also features a selection of special documentaries and retrospectives. Approximately 70 films from all over the world will be screened at this year’s festival. In addition to the film programme, Cinedans festival organises readings, panels and presents installations throughout the EYE.

In the ever-changing media landscape, creators are increasingly seeking different ways to tell their stories. New media and modern technology have entered the scene bringing new possibilities and insights. Dance film is no longer ‘movement on the black screen’, with new forms being developed such as installations, video clips, interactive projects and more. Contemporary dance films are often autonomous art works with a language of their own and an expressiveness that cannot be pigeonholed. Cinedans closely follows these movements. In addition to the film programme, the festival focuses on various forms of crossover projects and media installations that involve movement.
