The Spitfire Company is preparing the première of the last instalment of the Constellations trilogy, subtitled My Son Looking to the Sun. It is scheduled to take place in PONEC Theatre (Prague) on 25 and 26 November 2019. Three outstanding artists will share the stage in this new production: dancers Miřenka Čechová and Markéta Vacovská and musician Sára Vondráčková aka Never Sol. The third part of the trilogy focuses on the healing processes during which a person undergoes a series of purification rituals to become a “new person“. The company builds on the previous highly awarded works Before I Say Yes and Time For Sharing.

For the new show, the Spitfire Company has sought inspiration in Martin Heidegger’s 1966 interview in which the philosopher broke a twenty-year public silence to defend his entanglement with Hitler’s NSDAP. Until these days, the interview captures his original world view: “Before his death, Heidegger said: ‘Only a God can save us,’ without making it clear how such a God’s arrival would look like,” explains his inspiration the company’s artistic director Petr Boháč, and continues: “When a child and an adult look to the Sun, each of them sees something different. Where adults see disaster, children recognise a new beginning. This rebirth always includes something devilish.”

Following the first two parts of the trilogy, Constellations III. is based on a strong musical component. The production stars the Spitfire Company’s founder and performer Miřenka Čechová and dancer Markéta Vacovská, who has won the Theatre News Award for her solo performances and been nominated twice for the international Total Theatre Award. For the first time ever, the company members will be joined on stage by musician and composer Sára Vondrášková aka Never Sol. She will thus become one of those excellent artists who create original music exclusively for the Spitfire Company (such as Orchestr Berg, Lenka Dusilová and Martin Tvrdý).
