“I see PONEC as a unique space for dance, creativity, inspiration, gathering, dialogue, and new impulses,” says Markéta Perroud. “I truly appreciate the trust and look forward to shaping the future of the theatre, working with the team, artists, audiences, and partners.”

“I approached Markéta more than 10 years ago when she lived with her family in Lyon; she ranks among the most successful Czech dancers of the post-Soviet era, and she has always seemed trustworthy. We are now a tandem for the artistic management of the TANEC PRAHA festival and many international projects. However, I feel I have provided the PONEC Theatre with the best I could, and new energy would be beneficial after 20 years. I strategically work on a project of a change with the Tanec Praha team to preserve continuity in a number of activities launched after 1989,” said Yvona Kreuzmannová.

PONEC – Theatre for Dance opens the 21st season with three premieres. September 9 will see the renowned Věra Ondrašíková’s Witness featuring relationships and ecology, and Jitka Čechová and Tereza Lenerová’s dis pla y on September 16 deals with the boundary between excessive self-presentation and awkwardness. September 21 will see Johana Pocková and her team present the performance with solo singing about things we are rarely allowed to touch.

Witness

Trees as a metaphor for relationships and life on earth. The carefully selected branches of different trees create interactions as part of dancers’ precise movement, supported by Filip Míšek’s (Khoiba) live music. This is Věra Ondrašíková’s new project Witness. Ondrašíková is a renowned choreographer of the internationally acknowledged production GUIDE, dancer and teacher, and her team. The initial impulse was born in Central Park in New York and continued with the author’s personal experience; it sees trees as silent witnesses. The production accentuates relationships and the need for an ecological approach in everyday life.

If you have ever felt embarrassed, you will be relieved today – this is the promise of the project that was created during one of the artistic meetings of ULOV REALITU, organized by the Pulsar association, where the authors Jitka Čechová and Teleza Lenerová met for the first time.

It is a merger of macro and micro dramaturgy. The project is not solely based on choreography but draws from the analysis of attitudes and feelings arising from the current situation and thinking about the relation between audiences and artists.

To the Madonna with Rust

How does it feel to experience something that transcends us spiritually? It may happen in a small forgotten chapel, during an encounter with a special person, someone may wait for it for the rest of their lives. Johana Pocková, the author of the concept, choreography, and interpretation, and her team invite us to the joint ceremony, short break, and silence. The production is inspired by her personal experience from an unexpected encounter that emerges from the memory and is revived again. Solo singing and dance movement, light and fog, water with metal, moments of harmony and anxiety lead a dialogue about things we are rarely allowed to touch.
