Panel Discussion #4 Working Slow

As part of the Oktoberdans 2022 festival, a panel discussion on the topic Working slow in art criticism as a core practice took place on October 21, 2022 at the Hordaland kunstsenter. The discussion was moderated by Norwegian critics Anette Therese Pettersen and Hild Borchgrevink, who invited Czech colleagues Lucie Hayashi and Petra Dotlačilová to share their opinions, strategies, and practices. Critic and producer Lydia Wharf and her Hungarian colleague Lena Megyeri accepted the invitation from the British Springback magazine. The meeting took place in cooperation with Taneční aktuality (Czech Dance News) and the Norwegian organization Performing Arts Hub Norway as the last activity of the two-year project Dance and Performing Arts Criticism in Europe supported by EEA Grants 2014-2021.

The discussion was watched by more than fifty listeners from the ranks of critics, artists, and cultural managers. The next day, it was smoothly followed by the More than one hat round table, where twenty critics from all over Europe shared their experiences and strategies on how to effectively and sustainably manage the multiple professional roles that the financial situation of a dance publicist requires.
